Prepare WordPress for Winter with Snow, balloons and more

How to: automate WordPress tasks

I don’t know about you, but we have had some of the worst winters ever in the northeast U.S. in the past couple of years. Not everyone in this area actually hates winter. If you happen to be into celebrating winter, you can always add a “snow effect” to your WordPress website with Snow, balloons and more. It is a fun way to bring something different to your blog and celebrate those snowy periods in your area. Once you install this plugin and choose the appropriate effects, you will see flakes, drops, and balloons moving all around your pages.

Snow, balloons and more has a ton of options that you can play with. For starters, you can pick and choose the objects that you want displayed moving around on your pages. You have balloons, leaves, snow flakes, and even Santa to choose from. You can always limit the number of objects on your pages. Picking too many objects is not wise as it’d be very distracting for your visitors.

Users can always add their own images to this plugin. Just upload your image to the pics folder and choose the appropriate flakesize to get the job done (flake size needs to be larger than your max image height or width). The speed of animation can be modified from the back-end too. It is possible to limit this plugin’s effects to certain pages and posts.

Snow, balloons and more is probably not something you can use every day of the year. But it gives you a cool way to add winter effects to your WordPress blog. You won’t need to know any programming, regular expressions, and things of that sort to get it to work.
