How to Add Related Wikipedia Posts to WordPress

How to: automate WordPress tasks

In the past couple of years, we have covered a number of awesome plugins you can use to add related and popular posts to WordPress. Adding related tweets, YouTube videos, and other similar content to your website is not that hard either.  Wikipedia Widget is a simple plugin that allows you to perform Wikipedia searches and display the results on your site automatically. It can dig up related Wikipedia posts based on the title of each post on your site.

The plugin uses Wikipedia’s API to display search results on your website. This is a simple widget, so you can drop it to your sidebar or footer widget areas conveniently. Don’t want to rely only on post titles to perform searches? No problem.  Wikipedia Widget lets you set a default search term. Webmasters have the option to limit the number of results that are displayed.

The Wikipedia Widget plugin is fast and could provide your visitors with more value as they go through your pages. There is no guarantee that the plugin can find entries related to your posts though, so make sure you choose your default search term wisely.
